…Yesterday, Mr Baillieu said teacher pay rises would be based on inflation, productivity and affordability."

Because teaching is all about productivity isn’t it? Rather than quality.

Hours of preparation and marking every night, spending lunch times having ‘restorative chats’ with little bastards, making phone calls to parents in my own time, answering emails, marking rolls - twice each (because you ‘have to’), hours of after-school meetings every week, 2-hour weekly unallotted school production rehearsals (not to mention Sunday dress rehearsals and not getting home from school until midnight on performance nights), copping abuse from the department, the region, the parents, the students, putting batteries in the classroom clock (because no one is paid for that kind of thing), vaccuuming my own classrooms at least once a term (because the cleaners aren’t paid to move the furniture and vaccuum properly). Oh yeah, and teach…
Tell me how I can work ANY HARDER, Mr Ballieu.
By the way, anyone out there considering teaching as a career - BE WARNED!
